Places to Eat in the Melbourne Docklands of Australia

With over 100 restaurants, bars and cafes on offer, diners in Docklands really are spoilt for choice. From the Middle East to the Mediterranean, all the bases are covered here; but how do you find your ideal place to eat within this huge array of options? Fortunately, most restaurants in the Melbourne Docklands have spectacular views, so you will likely have an incredible panorama wherever you go. To help you along your way, here is an introduction to a couple of restaurants in the area.

If you are in the mood for something exotic after a long day of shopping in the city, Mecca Bah has a wide range of Moroccan, Turkish and Middle-Eastern cuisine. The lamb and yoghurt Turkish pizza is a particular specialty, though those who fancy something a bit hotter can try a pizza with spiced chicken and tomato. There are also Middle Eastern pides with lamb and pine nuts, and the Moroccan tagines with cous cous should satisfy those in search of a flavour of North Africa. Vegetarians are well catered for, too, with quite a few alternatives available, including Moroccan potato cakes and pumpkin pizza.

Mecca Bah also has an outside dining area so you can make the most of those famous Docklands views. The restaurant is situated at 55a New Quay Promenade, so it is just a short walk from the city centre. But beware: Mecca Bah does not take reservations, so wait times can get quite long in the evening.

Just a short walk from Mecca Bah you can find Butchers Grill, Meat and Wine Cellar. This restaurant serves up traditional Australian meats with a Mediterranean twist. Butchers Grill is known for its extensive list of steaks and wines, and it is easy to see why. T-bone, rib-eye and prime rib are just a few of the steaks on offer and all come served with potato croquettes. If you can

  • I stayed in Halls Gap in Victoria, Australia recently. It was a three bedroom townhouse and was fully equipped with everything we wanted. Australia is different to some other countries in that the hosts expect you to look after yourself. The Grampians National Park in Victoria is spectacular in terms of natural splendor. Heaps of different places to sleep. Backpackers, caravan parks, motels, houses and resorts. Anytime of year is good to go. Cool in winter and hot in summer.

  • Have you ever considered about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. But think of if you added some great photos or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this site could definitely be one of the very best in its field. Wonderful blog!
